Responds to Whats Wrong?

Kids know a days are not afraid to touch computers and search through the internet. Most adult get paranoid just trying to turn on the computer. Oh yes! You can be sure that our kids are that fast to learn things in the net then the books teachers use. It has to do with whats new and cool. Kids today are not interested in writing books and doing classwork inside the books we use in classroom! Believe me, if every table in my class has a computer and an internet connection where I can show them sites to read and do activities, no student would be bored or goofing off becuase they're really into the technology.

As for older teachers, It is understood that old people stick to traditional ways and hardly sway away to new technology. Therefore, it is not suprising that some don't have a clue of what they're doing with computer and the use of computer programs. That's why our educational system must constantly set up workshop to train teachers in new technology. But, Believe me, Palau Ministry of Education Computers are so out of date, I'm ashame to teach my students with them. Apple Mac...Are you kidding me!!! What year are we on... All the Ministries in Palau if you visit their offices use either Window XP or Window Vista. Modernize our education computers so that student can learn modern computer programs. Just my Opinion....

Technology has indeed taken over our children. Instead of us teaching them, they are teaching us how to navigate the net and where to find what we need to find. We are way behind the technology rate these days and no matter how fast we try to learn new stuff, still we cannot keep up with these changes. I fear that someday our new world will only be run by kids and not the adults.

I do agree that technology plays a major part in our kids daily social life. Kids are exposed to technology whether games, television as well as computers where they use to surf the internet and learn new things. The old people are used to simple technology like type writers and dedo machine that are less high tech and easy to manipulate.

I think this not only show how today's learning approaches are changing, the dinamic of social life has geared toward technology and the likes. Alot of kids today are well adjusted when it comes to technology however the percentage of obesity amongst kids today has risen higher than ever, a problem we are facing today. Oh well, what do we choose to teach our kids, the modern learning through technology or flipping through encyglopedia in the library that takes hours, You descide!

I agree that kids today are learning alot from the internet, but not my students. Most of my students do not know how to use the internet. Most of these students of mine come from Babeldaob elementary schools, and they're way too behind about the technology and its use. Not all kids are influenced by internet. This semester has been tough for me! I have 56 students, and none of them know how to use computers. It doesn't matter to me, for I know they'll learn about computers next semester, but I do get frustrated sometimes especially when I assign something to search online, but they don't have effort to learn. Although we could see how technology has become a big part of our lives as well as our kids, we have to realize that change is inevitable and as adults we need not look at it as a lost cause but, an opportunity to embrace it, learn from it, and keep up with the rest of the world so in this way we can utilize its advantages and make learning fun and worthwhile. Not all of us are comfortable when it comes to learning new things but, it doesn't hurt to try something new. After all, regardless of how we feel, we are never too old to learn.

Hello Biibers, let's not put technology between us and our students. Lets not forget that technology only has that positive side to it in regards to its use in educating our children. Of course it has setbacks that are not good in this regard like for example, students can use technology to cheat in their work like texting and plagiarism. We have to be flexible because the basics form is still as important as the technology, however we only have adapt to technology and make work for us instead of a burden.
